OOTD: Tartan Tales

Hello All

Having only done one ‘OOTD’ post before that I didn’t even show my face in, which you can read here , I thought another ‘proper’ OOTD post was much needed!
As you all know, tartan is huge this A/W. From High end, to High Street, tartan is taking over many shops, editorials & my earlier wishlist this month, which you can readhere.
I’ve been a fan of tartan for a long time. For my thirteenth birthday I wore a tartan strapless dress with a tutu underneath (may I point out I was going through my gothic phase, that hasn’t quite finished yet, but is a lot less extreme! My fashion role model was Avril Lavgine). For my last day at high school, I wore a tartan kilt, Dr. Martens and fishnets, resulting in a telling off & being told, & I quote ‘Punk Rock died in the 80s’ by my head of year.
This however didn’t deter me! Featured in my aforementioned birthday/ October wishlist, & seen across the bloggersphere, I have been coveting that Primark tartan dress for a long time now. Having looked in my local store, plus in both the Marble Arc & Tottenham Court Road ones, I had little success. That was however, until this Sunday. This ‘quick trip, just to browse’ in Primark resulted in a small haul &the dress, at last!
The below outfit I wore to a wedding, not your typical wedding attire I’d say, however I felt totally comfortable, danced the night away as my feet didn’t hurt & hats are appropriate for weddings!

Hat - Topshop | Tartan Dress - Primark | Striped Satchel - Primark | Matte White Shoes - Dr. Martens
Lipstick - Russian Red by M.A.C
Silver Rings - various from H&M & The Great Frog | Nails - Matte White Barry M & Black Nail Art Pen Barry M

This dress, (which is only £15!) is a perfectly flattering shape. With the slightly puffed shoulders, nipped in waist & loose skirt, I found it to be a really great fit. This is not the original dress I set out for. I initially liked the darker red & green tartan version. However seeing it i n person changed my mind. I love this dress, so expect to see more of it in the coming months!
The satchel caught my eye in the queue (clever marketing Primark team!). It;s really striking, & since using it a few times, it's uber practical too!
My shoe collection is getting out of hand, with this being my third pair in a month. But Dr. Marten's are really well made shoes, & are good for the feet too. So far, I haven't even scuffed these matte white ones, & they look perfect still! Let's see how long that lasts, eh?
Having wanted a bowler style hat for a very long time, I finally got one. I love it. I've hardly taken it off since I got it.
The nails were a bit of a pain. They aren't the neatest, hence the slightly far away, unfocused shot! But you can see that I painted them matte white, & used the Barry M black nail art pen to do half moons & tips. Not bad for a first attempt!

I hope you enjoyed my first 'proper' OOTD. Lately I feel I've found my 'signature style' so hope to do more OOTD posts on here!

My YouTube debut &how I fell back in love with London!

Hello all

This Saturday I made my YouTube debut! Last week, Millie of She Hearts The High Street & I went on a holiday haul shopping trip and as she already frequents YouTube, we decided that it was the perfect opportunity for me to take the plunge into vlogging!

I hope you enjoy!

As you can see, I didn't buy as much as Millie did! But the top I bought was so 'me' & so cheap that I couldn't say no. I love collars on shirts & monochrome is my basic colour scheme.
The kirby clips & hair bands were £1 each. I have found them to be as good as any other clips or bands, so don't see the point of spending more on basics.

I'd also like to share with you the lovely night I had in London this Friday. Although I've lived in Greater London my whole life, it's only when someone who's out of town comes to London that I actually explore the city really. So on Friday, after a lovely dinner in Covent Garden, we went to 'Vista', a rooftop bar overlooking Trafalgar Square above 'The Trafalgar' hotel. Seeing the London skyline at night made me fall in love with the city all over again. I love living in London, there is such eclecticism and opportunities & it made me realise I need to make the most of this beautiful city.
Me & my two loves; the boyfriend & London city (spot the Primark shirt from my YouTube video)
 I spy the Eye
 Even the lift was cool
 How beautiful is this view?!
Trafalgar Square with red fountains (of course I waited for the red light!)

Honestly, I had such a lovely night and the views were beautiful! It's definitely made me want to explore and appreciate the city a lot more. I underestimated how lucky I am living in London.

Look out for my YouTube channel & first solo video, its a project I am working for this week.
If you have any advice for me, I would very much appreciate it. Also please check out Millie's other videos here, she's a pro!

Hey, I put some new shoes on & suddenly everything is right

Black Velvet Boots - Dr. Martens
 Red Boots - Primark
Black Studded Slippers - New Look
Burgundy Studded Slippers - New Look
Black Studded Litas - Jeffrey Campbell

I have always been more of a 'shoe person' than into bags, but I think over the last month it's got a bit out of hand! However, I would like to point out some of them were gifts for Christmas so I haven't spent a ridiculous amount on shoes!
You may have seen the Dr. Martens on my wish list, and my parent's bought me them for Christmas & they are so beautiful. They gave me a huge blister when I broke them in, but now they are super comfy.
The red boots from Primark are so cute, I feel like Peter Pan or a little Pixie in them & at £8 how could I not?! I had a pair of studded slippers for ages, but somehow I managed to break them so my Mum replaced them with another black pair, while my Aunt got me the burgandy pair :)
Last but definitely not least are (finally!) a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Studded Lita's from my amazing boyfriend! Originally I asked for the studded Leela's from Daisy Street that I have featured on many a wish list, but he suprised me with the real thing, & I am so grateful ♥

I feel I have to take a break from shoes for a while, so I may invest in some more bags (although, I did get 2 bags for Christmas, post coming soon!), Watch this space...
