FASHION: And the bells were ringing out for christmas day

Festivities are well underway, as is the month of December! Even though it's only the 9th of the festive month, I have already been to 3 Christmas parties. These were all work related parties, so it was a nice excuse to dress up & have fun with my colleagues. Two of the three parties were in hired out clubs, thus my outfits reflected that, & the third party was much more formal, however as I work in events I was in charge of running the party, hence why my outfit wasn't as fabulous as last years outfit, which you can read about here.

That being said, my colour scheme has not changed at all since last year as you will see below! Having three parties was really enjoyable, as although I'm not into going 'all out' when getting ready (by this I mean fake tan, false nails, getting my hair done professionally), I did enjoy spending time getting ready!

As I mentioned previously, my colour scheme has stayed with black, white & red!

The first outfit was very sixties inspired with the monochrome & the platforms, so I did a mini bouffant, half up half down hair style.

For the VW party, as I was working practicality had to come before glamour, but I threw in some tartan as afterall, it was Vivienne Westwood!

Finally, the Topshop party outfit. Although I really liked all the outfits, but I think I felt most confident in the last outfit, as I had the longest to get ready! I also managed to stay in the heels for a good 2 hours, which is pretty good for me! I also liked the illusion of an LBD, with a top & skirt combo.

So I'm all done with work Christmas parties now, but I do have some festive plans with my friends as many of them are back from uni so I can't wait to be all festive with them. I'm using my events planning skills, & have lots planned for us for the rest of December plus into January!

J'adore...Vivienne Westwood Shoes

I've been doing a lot of online 'window' shopping lately, and making an incredibly early birthday wishlist. I somehow ended up on the Vivienne Westwood website and had a look at the shoes section and oh my! I fell in love with so many of the styles on offer.

I was already aware of the beauty of Vivienne Westwood shoes. I believe they are a collaboration with Mel, who designs the rubber, scented shoes. The Vivienne Westwood shoes are rubber, sweet scented and have a padded section where the ball of the foot is, making them fabulous and, fairly, comfortable.

There were three styles of shoe that I liked, and three colours of each that I liked, totaling 9 Vivienne Westwood shoes on my wishlist. Oops! Of course I won't ever get them all but they are very much in my imaginary walk-in wardrobe!

Very much in my colour scheme and very much my style, these shoes are so lovely.

My favourite 3 (one of each) are:

-Nude 'Divided Ballerina' because the Vivienne Westwood orb logo is in a lovely rose gold, a bit subtler than gold.

-Red 'Elevated with Bows' because I do love a pair of red heels to make a statement and the bows look the most 'solid' in this colour.

-Black 'Lady Danger' because the combination of red on black looks great!

Overall, if I had to choose just on, it would have to be the black 'Lady Danger's as I adore wearing red lipstick, as you can see from my instagram and my signing off logo on here, so the red lips are so 'me'!

Let the saving towards these and the blatant  hinting nearer my birthday commence!

50 Shades Of Grey Inspired Fashion

 

This morning I finally jumped on the bandwagon and started to read '50 Shades of Grey' by E.L James (who by very tenuous links it appears I am sort of distantly related too). I am still opposed to the idea of a woman succumbing to a rich man's pleasure and being dominated and, effectively, used as a sex doll. However apparently the high street and designers are also joining in the hype of the Best Seller series. Bongade / S&M inspired fashion is everywhere at the moment and will continue into A/W '12. Hints of lace and leather, corseted silhouettes and power platform heels show a link to a sexualized post '50 Shades' society. What I like however is how fashion has translated it into powerful dressing for the woman, espicially in the tie jewellery and sharp structured shapes. This suggests she is in control rather than a Christian Grey figure of money and authority. It isn't about dressing for a mans pleasure, it is instead about feeling sexy in yourself and in feeling confident and power you will inevitably appear sexy. Although some may find this intimidating (no doubt Mr Grey who likes clumsy, innocent Ana) I believe there is nothing more sexy than a confident, empowered woman.
