New Look Haul

I've been shopping! I had a long awaiting shopping trip, however I was mainly on the hunt for some basic pieces to work with what I already have. I am definitely realizing the importance of building a basic wardrobe, so I went for a monochrome theme.
I'm really loving pencil skirts at the moment, I think they give such a nice shape and can be dressed up or down. This polka dot skirt fits like a glove and is so comfy. I've found it doesn't make me do too much of a 'wiggle' when I walk like other pencil skirts can do, just the right amount of wiggle with this skirt!
You may have seen my '5 Ways To Wear...Black Midi Dress', and I have finally got one! I opted for a cap sleeved one as I don't particularly like my arms, so this was a nicer option for me. It fits so nicely and I feel so good when I wear it, I definitely recommend this for a body confidence outfit!
Next up I saw this 2-in-1 shirt and jumper combo and thought it could work well with my (already overflowing) wardrobe.
Then I wandered into the kids section and picked up a few bits. These boots are my new favourite! I don't think this is a picture of the ones I actually got as the ones I got have about a 2-3 inch heel but they are very similar in material and style. They are super comfy and make my legs look a bit better.
Then I got this basic black crop top as they didn't have my size in the adult section and this size fit fine and was cheaper anyway!

Very happy with my purchases and I have been making the most of all my new pieces!

Style Crush: Miranda Kerr

I have a major style crush on Miranda Kerr at the moment. Her effortless style, mixing tailored peices in a way that looks chic and relaxed. She seems to keep a similar colour palette of neautral blacks, greys and whites with occaisonal flashes of burgundy or navy. I like the fact that she is pictured wearing the same bag or jeans more than once, to me that makes her seem a lot more relatable. Also she owns (and goes out in) flats! Unlike many other celebs who are only ever seen in skyscraper heels, many pictures I have found show Ms Kerr in ballet flats (yay!). Major wardrobe envy!

Her classic style is always elegant and sophisticated and seems to consist of a few key peices that can be then interchanged. This is perfect for someone on a budget (like me). I have previously stressed the importance of building a basic wardrobe and Miranda Kerr is a perfect example of how this can work.

She recently became the face of Mango, a perfect marriage with classic silhouttes and a monochrome base.

Recreate Miranda's look:

I can relate to Miranda's look as I love tailored pieces and my basic colour palette is black and white with hints of burgundy. Now all I have to do it grow a few feet and maybe I'll get my own Orlando Bloom and Victoria Secret's deal, haha!

5 Ways to Wear... Ice Cream Colours/ Pastels

Ice Cream Colours or Pastel shades are so cute and always make me think of a 50s ice cream parlor or the 'Pink Ladies' in Grease. If I'm honest, I'm not really a pastel wearing girl. I like the classic monochrome, occasionally with flashes of red. But pastels look so pretty(especially in the Oxford Street Miss Selfridge store window I walk past daily!) and I was also inspired by the Barry M pastel collection.

Therefore,  I thought I would theme this '5 Ways to Wear..' on Pastels

Enjoy!

 Lemon

 Mint

 Lilac

  Peach

Pink

I've got to say, I did find this one tougher, as it wasn't my usual style but it was fun and looks very sweet!
Lemon was the most challenging as I really hate yellow! Despite the fact that when I was 8 my room was yellow and it was my favourite colour, I have a massive aversion to it now. However this lemon jumper and bag can be toned down with a leather look skirt and platform boots.
Mint is a really fresh colour, perfect for spring. For this night look, adding the lace with coated jeans makes it sophisticated but still fun.
Brown, Lilac and light denim look really nice together and I feel this could be a day or night look, I can see it in a beer garden with a nice Kopperberg!
This is a very 'me' look. Everyone should own a leather jacket in my opinion, as it gives some Rock Chick edge to this pretty peach dress.
My personal favourite is the last pink one. I love skater skirts paired with converse (probably due to my Avril Lavigne obsession as a tween!).

I had a very good response to my previous floral '5 Ways to Wear..' (Thank you!!) so I hope you like this and I will work on better ones for you soon!

5 Ways to Wear...Florals

Of course, being spring floral prints are huge. Generally I always  of florals being pastel, girlie colours. But looking into it, you can really style up floral prints, and there are lots of bold, bright floral prints out there too.
Here are my 5 Ways to Wear...Florals!

 Shirt - Dahlia | Skirt - Miss Selfridge | Brogues - New Look | Socks - TopShop | Sunglasses - TopShop
 Jacket - H&M | Necklace - Rock N Rose | Jeans - TopShop | Boots - Carvella | Bag - Missguided
Skirt and Jacket - New Look | Satchel - ASOS | Shirt - Lavish Alice | Shoes - Daisy Street
 Trousers - Lavish Alice | Blazer - H&M | Shoes - New Look | Top - TopShop | Nail Polish - Barry M

Playsuit - TopShop | Tights - New Look | Jacket - Miss Selfridge | Shoes - Dr Marten's

Starting off with quite a girlie outfit, this Dahlia shirt is so pretty. Matched with cute socks  light brogues makes it not to girlie.
st up, I always used to think white jeans where quite trashy, but recently I've realised that paired with the correct outfit they can look very classy. Although the Carvella boots are quite pricey, they are lovely. I found these while browsing to spend my Elle gift card from an issue last year.
Next the two piece skirt suit is so classic, paired with a simple blouse and heels, let the patterned pair be the focus point.
A nice tropical floral print, mixed with colour blocking is a great way to do this trend without being too wishy washy. Really want to try the Barry M Gel polishes too!
Finally, rock chick up this girlie plasuit with a leather biker jacket and floral Dr. Martens.
Hope you liked this 5 Ways To Wear, and apologies for missing last week!
